General Information


The 2016 FISITA World Automotive Congress will take place at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Centre (BEXCO) in Busan, Korea. The BEXCO is located 30 minutes from Gimhae International Airport and is located in the heart of the Haeundae Beach Resort, one of South Korea's most famous hospitality sites.

Time Zone

Busan operates under Korean Standard Time (KST) which is UTC/GMT +9 hours.


The official curency in Busan is the South Korean Won (SKW). Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, department stores, shops and restaurants. Currency exchange is possible near Nampo-dong and Hauendae at banks such as KB (Korea Bank of Exchange), Busan Bank and NH Bank. Withdrawing cash at an ATM with your foreign MasterCard or Visa is usually simple as most will have an English language option. American Express cards are less widely accepted.


Tipping is not customary in Busan. In restaurants, taxis and hotels you will receive exact change and it is not expected to leave a gratuity.


Centum City is registered in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest department store of the world. It meets any shopping needs you have, from clothing to food and provides year-round recreational facilities.

Simple Western remedies such as aspirin are most likely to be found in 24-hour convenience stores and the lobbies of high-end hotels. Pharmacies are located throughout the city (with the usual green cross), though none are open 24 hours.


Value Added Tax is in included in all prices. Currently this tax is levied at 10%.


To make international calls, you need to dial the international dialling code (001, 002 or 008), followed by country code, area code and telephone number. Mobile Rental Services are available at the airport. Many cafes, bars and restaurants as well as the Congress venue offer free wireless internet.


Electric current in South Korea is AC 220-240V/50Hz. Electrical sockets (outlets) in South Korea (the Republic of Korea / ROK) are one of the two European standard electrical socket types: The "Type C" Europlug and the "Type E" and "Type F" Schuko.

Public Transport

You can take the subway and buses using a 'T-money' card, which can be used in all public transportation modes nationwide. There are four metro lines that serve the city. To reach BEXCO, participants can get off either at Centum City or Busan Museum of Art stations on Line 2 (Green line). The Busan Gimhae Light Rail transit provides service from the airport to Sasang Station, where travellers can take Line 2 to Centum City.


You can easily catch a taxi in Busan. The rates start from KRW 2,800 for the first 2 kilometres and additional charges are added based on time and distance. Between 00:00 and 04:00, surcharges will be added to the fare. Orange taxis offering interpretation services can be booked by dialling 1330.


Participants are strongly advised to obtain travel insurance (medical, personal accident and luggage) in their home country prior to departure.
